The Technology Behind the Website Matters – Is Your Online Business Built on Free Shareware?

The technology used behind a website matters in terms of performance, security, license (are you legally licensed to use it) and cost.  Many entry level web designers are using a shareware (free) tools rather than standardized development tools and languages that are much faster and more reliable.  Typically this is done because someone has not had any legitimate training or invested nothing in the framework, servers and hosting.

Bakers would not bake a cake with sugar you found sitting on the side of the road or builders would never build a new home with scrap wood from the dump so why would any legitimate website company charge someone to build a website using free software they do not own and have no license to sell?

Know the difference and only accept legitimate licensed software such as .NET, ASP, SQL & Oracle with structured ongoing development, security, updates and legitimate license for customer use.  Entry level programmers and less skilled companies will often learn using shareware though most experienced qualified developers will build a BETTER website using legitimate software from Microsoft, Oracle, and other well known companies. 

Next time your business is considering a new website be sure to ask what the website company uses to build the website – if they are selling you FREE shareware with security flaws then thank them and find another company who is willing to invest in your security and hire experienced qualified programmers and a company that invests in top level solutions to support your business.
